Seed Hawk Inc. Breaks Ground on New Plant

Langbank, SK— Seed Hawk Inc. is pleased to announce that they have commenced construction of their new $2.8 million manufacturing facility. The new facility will expand production from 130 machines to 300 machines per year, and allow Seed Hawk to continue to expand their marketing efforts without compromising the services offered to existing customers.

“The new facility will allow us to serve our Canadian and International customers better. With the increased world-wide demand for our one-pass air drills, we need to increase our production capability, while maintaining quality control,” says Brian Dean, Vice-President and Product Development Manager with Seed
Hawk at Langbank, Saskatchewan, Canada.

The new facility will include 15,000 square feet of manufacturing space, 4000 square feet of office space and will allow for increased year-round production, resulting in greater efficiencies and cost savings. The expansion is partially a result of the minority investment of Swedish company Väderstad in Seed Hawk, which took place in 2006. This agreement opened up new international markets for Seed Hawk, necessitating the need for a new manufacturing facility.

“When completed, we anticipate the manufacturing facility will help us be more responsive to changing farmers’ needs,” says Dean. “It solidifies our reputation for producing high-quality, accurate seeding equipment. It also is required so Seed Hawk can meet the increasing market demand for our product.”

Seed Hawk Inc. was established in 1992 to develop a drill that seeds, bands and packs in one pass. Seed Hawk has progressively developed the Seed Hawk onepass drill and now has over 700 seeders in the field. Employing 45 staff, Seed Hawk currently operates out of a 2,000 square foot office with a 24,000 square foot manufacturing facility. A new manufacturing facility is also currently under construction that will triple their current production capability. As a company stablished by farmers, agrologists and engineers, Seed Hawk strives to develop the most accurate seed and fertilizer placement systems to help farmers seed more efficiently and profitably. Seed Hawk is located two miles north of Langbank, Saskatchewan on Highway #9.
